Is Love On Your Todo List Today?

It's not so much a "todo" list as it is a declaration:

I love how I feel and act in the painting studio, especially wearing my apron listening to my iPod in the front left pocket and feeling in my fingertips the bristles brushing oil on the canvas.

I love that I am the affectionate one in my family: hugs, kisses, and the like. A friend once asked me if I am an affectionate person, and I didn't realize until then that I am.

I love that I am still friends with Jonathan, that I have overcome one of the most trying times of my life and that we still love each other. He is and always will be my first love.

I love that I still love his family and that we still communicate lovingly: that I miss them and hope for only the best for them.

I love the sore feeling after a great workout, and that when I was younger I was the one who hated gym class.

I love chopsticks, little rice bowls and that when I was little I used to eat my Cheerios with chopsticks instead of a spoon.

I love music that makes me smile when the sun streams down rays, lighting my path on campus in the spring.

I love that I am the middle child, and like the middle of a wheel, all my family comes to me for support and information on other family members instead of going to each other.

I love that my parents own a restaurant and that when I come home, the usual customers ask me how I am doing.

I love that I sign my emails "xoxo" because I really do want to give you hugs and kisses.

I love that yoga makes me flexible and that even though I am busy I still make time for yoga.

I love that my passion for life is back after a tumultuous past year.

I love hearing someone else be passionate. When they are excited, I become excited.

I love volunteering. My heart feels elated. It is literally undescribable.

I love the way I feel in museums and how they make me think about topics I know nothing about but want to eventually: life, God and religion, evolution, psychology, science, love, children, etc.

I love mom and pop restaurants located in rural, American downtowns and listening to the conversations of the customers in these stores.

I love when I thrift shop with my little sister and ask her if she can see me in "this", she always looks at it and sighs with a slight sarcastic disgust and answers "yes".

I love that I admire my little sister's coolness. She is sooooo much cooler than I am.

I love that I am a twin and that Sheng is studying the complete opposite of me. Ms. Art vs. Mr. Engineer.

I love that feeling when you like someone who likes you back: when you can't help but smile, when you've just met and everything is exciting.

I love that I wasn't friends with Daniel in high school, but he is the only person I keep in contact with now. Dan, I love that you tell me "I'm hot".

I love how frank Amber and I are with each other. She will tell me the truth in the most loving way possible. Amber, I love the way you are. You bring out the real, Lisa Ly.

I love making boyfriends in other countries. I wish it would happen more often.

I love great conversations by an open fire, over coffee or tea, on stairsteps, or cozy in my bed.

I love cuddling with someone who gives me butterflies in my stomach: holding hands, lying my head in the crook of his neck, and smelling him.

I love first kisses with people of the same butterfly-stomach scenario.

I love that I am making these realizations and writing them down so I don't forget, but maybe I have a little too much love right now. :)

Tell me what you love... please?

So...

today I met someone. We played tic tac toe, "bowled", and "surfed". He plays the violin, enjoys travel, and has even lived in Germany for a month (one of my favorite countries). I think I could be in love... if not for the age difference: 10 and in the fourth grade.

So he was not exactly the play date I was looking for on a Saturday afternoon but fun nonetheless. With some cool St. Thomas Aquinas cats, we baked cookies (which I ate too many of) and played games (learned to play poker). It turns out he lives in one of the houses I helped paint for Habitat for Humanity two years ago. Funny how things work out.

Well...

I spent 11 hours at the College of Design today.
The day broken down becomes
-3 hours on my charcoal skull drawing
-4 hours on my master study
-1 hour sharing music
-3 hours on graphic design, blog reading, news reading, podcast listening, Maria/Jacob chatting, and general procrastination

Great finds for today/yesterday?

Vincent Lesson of the Day:

‘Il n’y a pas de vieille femme!’¹ (That does not mean there are no old women, only that a woman does not grow old as long as she loves & is loved.)

And

That a woman is a “quite different being’ from a man, & a being we do not yet know, or at best only superficially, as you put it, yes, that I am sure of. And that a woman & man can become one, that is, one whole & not two halves, I believe that too.

Sneak(er)s & Peeks of the New Year.

So I got me some new sneakers. New sneakers to take me from class to class, new sneakers to take me back home every once and a while, new sneakers that may venture to Oregon, new sneakers that will carry me away from here. Do you see where my new year's is headed?

I have a lot of stuff.
And:
"The bare idea of this is no doubt horribly repulsive to us, but at the same time I think that we should remember how repulsive our carnivorous habits would seem to an intelligent rabbit." With all the packing, I found this quote taken from a book I read in high school. I don't remember which book it was, but I enjoyed the quote then and still do now.

Continuing Meditations on Today's Thoughts.

1. REGARDING THE BLOG. No new thoughts on this topic. I still feel as if my thoughts and ideas are not so important or revolutionary over anyone else's that I should publicly declare them.
2. NO FEAR. I am so crazy bored out of my mind, that I am more than ready to begin the end of my education. Besides it is not really the end of my education as I still have my masters to look forward to and wherever that takes me.
3. HOT FINDS: Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, a classic red 70s pleated Head tennis skirt, a ruffled polka dotted skirt, and a cute black and gold clutch purse are the thrift treasures of today.
4. SOLUTION: Wearing my winter coat around the house and thinking about my "hot" thrift finds.

Today's Thoughts.

1. DEBATE: Sometime I will run out of interesting European experiences to share... will my blog end there or even before? I don't really have anything interesting to say.
2. FEAR: The beginning of the end: my classes start on Monday; I'm not sure I am ready.
3. EXCITEMENT: I'm going thrifting today.
4. CHILLED: My parents like the apartment cold.

Thinking About...

Feeling a Need to Gush...

I LOVE yoga.
I LOVE Buena Vista Social Club.
AND
I LOVE that I just dedicated one hour of my life to combine the two into perfect harmony.

Henri Matisse...

What do you think of him? This little one is not so interested, but nor am I of his later work. His earlier work has so much more expressiveness. I admire his early brushstroke, so thick and lush with paint. His painted patterns are a feat to admire: such as in the Seated Odalisque or the Red Room.
